Companies are encouraged to set up schemes as described previously
under the Give As You Earn programme.
Firms might also like to consider:
-
Facilitating sponsorship events by their employees. For morale
and team building, why not organise such events as a competition
between various departments or office locations, seeing which
can come up with the highest figure.
-
Providing facilities and services free of charge (or at
reduced rate) to the charity. Duchess of Kent House Charity is
currently supported by HSBC bank, BDO Stoy Hayward LLP (our
accountants). Vale & West (our auditors) and Pitmans (our
solicitors).
-
Seconding personnel for special projects or mentoring
-
Matching employee donations with additional money, either pound
- for - pound or by other amounts. Recently Thames Water International,
Marks and Spencer, and Barclay's Bank (Pensioners) have enhanced their employees' donations
to us in this way.
-
Providing goods to us for resale, such as greetings cards, plant
containers etc.
-
Sponsoring publications we printed by helping with origination,
printing and advertising costs.
-
Paying for events such as the out-patients' summer Thames boat
trip.
-
For our Light Up A Light service this
year we are looking for someone to sponsor the lights themselves
and their installation (£1000) and to sponsor the printing
of the program and the attendant advertising (£500).
-
Collection boxes are available to companies for their reception
areas, rest rooms and canteens - in fact any secure spot on site.
-
Golf Charity Days - so far this year the main one planned is Sandford Springs
near Tadley. For the latter we are
looking for over 20 teams of 4 @ £ 300 per team to play shotgun
start (lunch included). Firms are encouraged to
enter teams and to provide items and services to auction at the
evening dinner.
-
On 8th October, 2005 which is also World Hospice Day we are
holding our Voices for Hospices performance at the Great Hall,
University of Reading which will be part of the world's largest
simultaneous music event of the year. We are looking for
supportive advertising in our programme, corporate sponsorship for
the hire of the hall and other facilities.
-
Charity of the Year
Companies
nominate us as their Charity of the Year and arrange a number of
fundraising events to benefit us. Currently
Marks & Spencer (Broad Street, Reading), Sainsbury's (Friar Street), HBOS
and Tesco's (the last two are national appeals benefiting all
hospices in 2004) are helping us in this way.
