a
slice of life
is
Claudia Clark's first book. She was born in 1975 in Wokingham,
Berkshire and now lives in Middlesex.
The book is inspired by a love of poetry and fuelled by the loss
of her father to cancer in 2001.

a
slice of life
is a
collection of poetry I have written to raise money for Cancer
Research UK and for the Duchess of Kent House in Reading where my
father died on August 9th 2001, after surviving cancer for 7 years.
The proceeds from the sale of the book will go directly to these two
charities.
Cancer is becoming a normality.
It is an inevitable factor in so many lives. If you are able to say
that you do not know someone who is currently ill in your own family
or circle of friends you are unusual. But, having cancer is not just
about dying; more importantly it is about how people, their
families, friends and colleagues live with it. Cancer is a life
style.
The poems within the book are a mixture of short light-hearted
verses and some more serious, poignant ones.
The poems may make you smile with familiarity, cry with empathy,
laugh out loud or feel defiant and cross.
At the very least the book will make you smile, knowing that you
have contributed another piece to the ever-expanding jigsaw puzzle
that is conquering cancer, and changing lives.
