How can you help?
The importance of volunteers and what they do, and how to volunteer:
The Duchess of Kent House Charity is always looking for volunteers
to help with ward care, transport, gardening and administrative
work. The contribution of the volunteers financially to the House
is huge, and it is estimated that if they had to be paid salaries
the total would be over £100,000 per annum! Of course the
contribution of the volunteers equates to much more than just money
saved as they provide the human interface between health professionals,
patients and the public. Volunteers not only give freely of their
time and expertise but are also often involved with fundraising
activities.
If you are interested please contact Jane Rankin, the Volunteer
Services Co-ordinator on 0118 955 0486. This is the first port of
call for anyone considering volunteer work in the hospice.
Currently around 80 volunteers help on the ward, in Day Care,
with patient transport etc with a further 20 approximately trained to
help deliver the family-support service under the co-ordination of
Jackie Dearden & Liz Bannell(0118 955 0485).
The charity office of the Fundraising Manager, George Solly occasionally
has vacancies for volunteers with general office and IT skills as
well as more specific fundraising tasks.
